Golden Eagle in flight

This Golden Eagle has been hanging around a small prairie dog town every morning. This particular morning, I waited long enough to try to get some shots as he pursued his quarry. In this particular instance, he missed.

Canon 1D, 500 F4 IS, 1/640 sec, F8, evaluative metering, ISO 200

Rob, he must have been close just using a 500, in that case I would try to use some fill flash on this dark bird. The eye is sharp and makes the photo. good job.

The eye sharpness makes it a keeper but I think the area gone black detracts.

An interesting flight shot. A little flash would have helped.....but I'm not one to suggest as I certainly don't use it enough.
