The most exciting moment in my birding life happened this morning when I finally saw the Rufous Hornbill (Buceros hydrocorax, now becoming a rare Philippine endemic) "in bird."

This spectacular and majestic bird is the largest hornbill in our islands. The closest I got to the family of 3 individuals is about 60 meters, yet the bird's 37 inches total length allowed me to fill a good portion of the frame at 800 mm.

Captured at Quezon National Park (Philippines) - 350D + Sigmonster (Sigma 300-800 DG), 800 mm, f/8, 1/160 sec, ISO 400, manual exposure

Romy, Congrats on a great image of this spectacular bird. The colors are just amazing and your exposure is right on. I would consider toning down or cloning the two brightes spots in the lower left quadrant.

Great Work!

Thanks, Artie. I'm a big fan of your bird images, and I always read your bulletins. In case Pbase is still having problems, here's a link to the pic.

Pbase is still completely unresponsive, I suggest you find another means of exhibiting your noteworthy work! You've taken rare bird photography to great heights with this one; congratulations :) !!!
