(Bald Eagle) Homer, Alaska

Based on what I saw the eagles perching on in Homer, I wouldn't leave any large lenses out in the open for too long.

This image was taken in the Harbor at the end of the spit.

Handheld Nikon D100, 80-400 VR, ISO 200, Aperture Priority, 1/500 @ F5.6. Cropped about 20% or so mostly from the left and top.

Well he looks like he belongs there. Diginity personified. Good shots although the blacks seem posssibly a bit blocked up.

Well this is one perch I'd have never expected to see an Eagle on! Amazing what you see out there. The image feels just a bit unbalanced to me- I wish the eagle was looking the other way or else more space on the right. I do like the amount of the perch that you've included as it is a story telling shot and you need it for the story.

Great shot. These birds are cool no matter where they land.

He has the look as if daring for anyone to come kick him off the hill! 8)
This majestic bird overshadows anything that they sit on.
I would be extremely happy with a shot like this!
(I'd be happy with any "sharp" pic of "any" bird in fact!) :)

Cool shot! I do agree it seems a bit "unbalanced", and think putting the bird close to the upper left corner might help. The masthead would actually create a cool diagonal up through the frame.

How cold is it going to be at Homer? :?

I kept trying to get one of these to use the masthead of my boat so the other birds would stay away. The "droppings" from some were purple and made a mess. white is easier to clean. Eventually I solved the problem by going up the mast and putting a purcupine like fitting there. They stopped painting my boat.

Another great eagle shot and fitting for this motif.
