In Hummingbird Photography the choice of the plant is important to complement the "studio" set up, in this case I chosen a bromeliad because the nice red hues that would match the colors of the background. However we need to be biologically realistic and I could not place the water sugar on the bromelia leaves (here it is not a flower but a plant) because would be biologically incorrect (unless the bird was just drinking water, which might happens) I placed the feeder to the right and framed the image without. This Buff-tailed coronet was just waiting in turn to approach the feeder and using the bromeliad as a support only.

All brutal comments appreciated, Thanks for looking.

The colors are a little too over the top here for me. The BG is a little distracting IMO. Nevertheless, it is better than any hummingbird shot I have! The detail in the bird is very nice. :)

Great bird Juan and I love the plant. The background is a little over the top IMO but still a great shot!

Jaun, another wonderful hummer shot! Great detail in the bird and I love the semi perched pose. The bg is only slightly distracting to me. Have you gotten all the types of hummer that pass your way?

I'm not a big fan of the technicolor background, but I like the wing position and feather detail.

Juan,
You asked for brutal comments, so here goes. I love it, except for one thing. The bright, multi-colored BG looks totally out of place to me. Some of your other BG's look so much more natural.
