This is the same owl from an earlier post (Hawk-Owl in a snowstorm). After the snow started to let up, the owl suddenly looked up into the sky, was alarmed by something, and jumped down to a lower perch - trying to hide behind the spindly branches. I scanned the sky, but couldn't see anything (my vision is obviously nowhere near as good as the owl's!). When I made some noise shifting around in my truck, the owl cocked it's head over to see what was happening & I got this shot.

I'm working on a laptop - not sure if this needs more sharpening.

Canon 10D, 300/4, 1/1600, f6.3, ISO 800, slight crop.

Sharpness looks OK to me though I think a little more wouldn't hurt. An interesting shot, a very different pose, but I like it.

The eye contact makes this one, Gerald.

While I prefer the earlier superb post I would love to have this one in my Files. The direct look back makes it work nicely for me and the overall scene remains wonderful. Congrats Gerald.

Gerald, this is super! Yeah, a little more sharpening wouldn't be bad. But the owl's pose is great, kind of comical -- trying to hide behind that twig but still keeping an eye on you. The snowy environment is very nice, and I like the cones on the tree. It's like a Christmas tree covered in ornaments... well, I'd think that if I was a crossbill I guess. :) Nice!

This is really great Gerald! Love the snow and the look he's giving you. Also really like the way the tree kind of frames his pose. Very nice image! :)

Both this and your previous are excellent, but if forced I'd choose this one.
