These birds are late arrivals on territory in MN. The challenge in getting this
image was the sun and the wind. I had to time my images so that a cloud would
obscure the sun to tone it down then snap the image when the perch blew into
the place I wanted it in frame. Lots of images in the bit bucket, but I was happy with this one.

Canon D30, Canon 600mm f/4, ISO 200, 1/750 @ f/8, FF -1 1/2.

Regards,

Terry

That bird is a beauty, Terry. Looks like you did well in harsh light.

Well done. I like the wind blown feathers on his back.

This one was worth it, Terry. Nice to see one in breeding plumage.

Cool! I had the same issue-- waiting for a little cloud cover to cool things off a bit.... I love the pose-- great job!

Terry,

Very nice shot. It sound like quite a challenge with the light and the wind, but it worked out well.

Sounds like conditions are much the same as here. The only difference is that you got the Dickcissel.....I'm still trying to get one. Nice shot....and good shooting to get it all done. The bonus is the singing!!!
