:D My very first post anywhere. Taken in late July on the Toronto waterfront. This family was missing one parent, I had noticed the missing parent 1 week prior, nursing a bloody wing; probably a dog attack. There are 2 more cygnets hidden behind the parent. The late evening light made the lovely colours.

You've got to love an image that includes a baby swan. :)

Nice colors!

Lat, Giving that the water at the bottom is much lighter I would crop up almost a third. If the water was green, then I would leave the reflection in. It's a very elegant photo.

Excellent. I would suggest cropping out the reflection also and adding some USM. Well done.

:D Thanks all of you for you well received comments. I have been an amateur photographer for many years, but, only just had the courage to go public! Digital has revitalised my interest, and I've become addicted to birds and nature.

I have another image of the Swan family that I will post next (hoping not to bore you) The colour that evening was just beautiful. I really enjoyed the antics of the cygnets, they were so young that they could hardly stand on their feet. The water reflection was quite colourful hence I did not crop. I have noticed that other contributors crop quite closely. After all I am still learning, hence my presence on this site.

Thanks again,

Latafat

Lat,

It's good to see you are posting. A very nice family shot, junior adds much to the image. Nice colors in the BG. A bit more USM would not hurt.

Very nice birds and love the cute little guy by the parent, nice exposure and pretty good colors, I think the full reflection takes away a little from the image, being so much brighter than the top part, still a very nice capture!! Congrats!! 8)

The positioning of the little one is perfect. I like seeing the Swan and then with a moments study being able to see the cygnet.. Very nice and welcome to NSN
