Taken several months ago south of St. Cloud, Fl. These guys are usually found scurrying along the ground in groups and running for cover.. Fortunately the road that I was on is not heavily trafficked for I turned my car at the best angle to shoot him while he stayed on this post.

10D, 600IS, ISO200, EV-1, fill -1, crop about 10% all around. Beanbag.

Comments and reposts welcome.

Jim, A wonderful capture, although I have photographed them before I have never been able to capture something this good, they do perch when not on the ground, Here, you have captured him well, excellent light, exposure and detail!!! Congrats!! 8)

Dennis, How observant. Took a total of 5 images. The last 2 show his deposit on the post before he left.

Yes, Bobwhites are Quail. The only native quail in the eastern US. There are several species of quail in the western US but not Bobwhites. This is a very nice image of this colorful bird.

Jim,
One of the best Bobwhites I have seen. I have these in my backyard occasionally, but have never gotten anything as nice as this.

Great shot. I can hear the bobwhites but never get to see any around here. Excellent job of getting him from the car. This is one of the most impressive bobwhite shots I've seen.

Very, very good for me. Well doen. I wonder if the BG can be a little more blue or whatever. Now it is a little indistinct.

Nice shot, Jim!
The perch is well weathered and looks good.

I have yet to get something this good on one of these guys. They always seem to high-tail it when I'm around.

Nice capture. I'm glad he waited long enough for you to get into position. :)
