American Goldfinch Houston, TX

D1X, 600.

Another shot from the other day. Not much going on here, just a simple composition.

It's nice Alan but doesn't have as much going for it IMO as your last post. I don't quite know why, maybe the fact that the ball is directly below the bird. Still a great shot and one I'd like to have taken.

Very nice pose and lovely perch (as always). I find the OOF tail a little distracting.

The perch is the 'center' of this shot ... very special indeed.
Love the clean bg and excellent comp, Alan!

I like your composition, Alan. The BG & perch are perfect, as usual.

Alan:

Unusual perch for you, kind of unbalanced in MHO.

I think it's a great photo but I do agree about the seed pod looking a bit awkward, as if it's about to fall off. Perhaps if the perch was leaning left a bit more with the pod dangling at more of an angle. Boy is that picky....;)

Beautiful bird Alan, beautiful perch, lovely light, amazing background. I must also say that I enjoyed a lot your last essay. Perhaps you could make another one - goldfinches on different perches.

Now I understand how you keep your birds on such nice perches. You use a ball and chain.
