EJ:

I love the side lighting, the perch and the background are very complimentary, I wish the tail was sharp but I understand more DOF might have ruined the soft BG. Congratulations.

Nice - love the simple bg. During our Christmas bird count I ended up trudging (no snow to ski this year) to find the local Gray-crowned Rosey-Finchs. Found a flock of 80-100 at the 7,000' level here in S East Idaho. Seems they like to cruise on top of the snow searching for seeds, one unique bird, really enjoy these hardy finches.

Great bird! Great photo! Was this shot near a feeder? If not, then it is that much more amazing!

EJ, it's painful enough that this is simply an excellent photo, but that it's one of the most desired species by north american birders..... SUPER ENVIOUS!
Great image!
Happy holidays.

Oh man this is cool to see. Hope to see one someday. Well done on the natural light. What was bouncing the light underneath the bird, snow?

A large flock of 50 or so birds that included all three types. they come to the balcony feeder at the crest house every 20 to 30 minutes, stay for a minute or so and then flock off.
