Jenn, Welcome to NSN.

You did a good job getting the bird in front of a clear spot. It would be better to have him not so center in the frame. I'd place him in the left third of the space.

Sorry to read about Marty

thank you Alan. He is sadly missed. He was more than just a dog.....he saved Keith (my husband's) life. One very loved dog. I was so excited to see any eagles at the boat ramp, I had center focus on so I zeroed in on him.....they are so amazing to watch.

Welcome to NSN. I would also rather have the light coming from behind you to get some detail in the tree and the dark feathers on the eagle. Placing it off center always helps to add some dynamic tension that a centrally placed subject seems to lack, especially when it is small in the frame.

Not the best light and a bit far away ...
But you did what you could. Welcome to NSN, Jenn!

Jenn,
Welcome to NSN!!! I might get down to Starved Rock sometime this week. Any eagles near the dam or otherwise nearby these day?
