Gitzo, sidekick, 80% of full frame

This is an image from last summer taken near the tide pools in La Jolla. Looking at the image now, I think it could have benefitted from a little fill flash because of the angle of the light. I do like the plumage color and look forward to the return of these birds in a month or so.

A sweet shot for sure. I agree with it needing a little fill but it looks great as is.

You're right about the plumage, it's great. A bit of fill may have helped, but, would it have blown the whites, because in this image the whites are just right.

This is a superb shot and you captured the moment very well, Neil! :lol:

The color is very saturated and it looks like you had strong direct lighting on the subject already. I doubt any fill-in flash would have helped here. I would suggest to lighten it up overall using curves/levels adjustment in PS instead ... :wink:

Nice shot. What makes this stand out from other shorebird pictures to me is the uneven sand, and it looks like he is climbing it :lol: .
