Spring as we know it is almost here and soon we will busy soaking up all of the day that we can...that's all 20 hours of the light a day that we will have.

I been have following a flock of Snow Buntings around last week, even to a point where I was stuck with my ATV for three hours last weekend in the deeper snow. no photos taken :( Then it snowed again and the winds started to blow the last three days...will spring ever come we thought.

Today as I came home for dinner I noticed a few flying in arround the hill we pass....to fast to take photos of for sure...Well it must be that the Bird God figured that "Doug you deserve a treat today"....as I sat down for my sandwich and looked out the window there they were on the little grass showing that we have right out side the front window. Go Figure....and go get the gear :)

With a little extra budgie seed that we had from last summer they were more than happy to stay and pose for myself and my son for an hour. They are actually now roosting on the snow bank at the door out of the wind. In amongst the flock of 20 or so Buntins one lonley cousin a Lapland Longspur.

I think it's going to be a good year. :D :) and a early monring tomorrow

As always comments and suggestions welcome.

darn! still snow on the ground and its almost June. I took the liberty of checking on Rankin Inlet on a weather site. Highs in the 20's, lows in the 10-15 range. Ow :) Nice pic of a Snow Bunting..never have seen them in breeding plumage.

Doug
I'm certainly not going to complain about a cold spring anymore. What a gorgeous little guy and a treat to have as a dinner guest. Very nice.

Doug,

A fine harbinger of spring. Central Florida could use a little of that white stuff, the high was 88 degrees yesterday.

Oh Man  You make me so jealous. Flocks of these came though at Cranberry marsh east of Toronto. They were reported every other day. But, every time I went there was not one in sight.

Like the intimate feel of this one with the grasses and low angle. A very nifty little bird too and one I've not seen. 8)
