Shot this Scaup taking 40 winks a couple of weeks ago at East Humber Park on the Toronto waterfront. The tension of the water against it's left flank fascinated me.

All comments welcomed.

Love that he is watching you with that eye ball. I too would like a lower shooting angle but presume this is from a dock or break wall of some sort.

How is everyone getting so close to these Scaup?

Well Done!

Yes, I was sitting on a break wall, could not get any lower. The water was only a small area that was not frozen. Some of the waterfowl will use these areas of water if there are very few or distant people.

Provided one approaches carefully and stays quiet, with no sudden movements, you can build a trust with the birds; though they will constantly watch you as you can see in the open eye directed at me.

Lat,

I like this one shooting angle and all. The reflection is killer and I love the water color. Technicals are all there too. Very nice. :)

Lat,
I like this image just fine. What a difference it makes with the yellow eye open and observing.

Lat,

Very nice shot. I like the reflection. Lower might be better, but I would be happy with this image just the way it is.
