I thought I would toss this one in, after seeing Bill Whala's L Scaup. Didn't really have anything blue to post until he reminded me of the common nickname for the Lesser Scaup. Apparently, this guy heard the same joke as Bill's Scaup. The angle of this shot is a little high because the bank was a lot steep. All comments welcome.

Shot January in Austin, TX on Town Lake.

Canon 1D, 400 f/5.6, handheld, f/5.6 @ 1/2500.

I love these kinds of shots. They look so happy with the bill open like this. You did very well to get the iridescence on his head.

I agree with you about the shooting angle but still an excellent image all around!!

According to the resource I got the name Bluebill from, alternate names for Ruddy Ducks are 'Bull-necked Teal' and 'Dollar Duck'. These are old hunters terms.

Very nice! Almost looks like a flipped image of Bill's shot. Nicely done.
