I tried submitting an image this afternoon, when I select my image to upload (and add to portfolio) it just hangs on the next screen. Anyone else having this problem?
Kind Regards
Mitch

Mitchell, I presume you mean you're trying to upload an image within a post in one of the image forums. Which "next screen" are you referring to, where things hang? After the upload, the system goes back to the topic editing screen showing the post text with the image link added in between img tags. Do you mean that things hang once you try to actually submit your topic?

I have just done some quick testing and I'm not seeing any hanging issues. (Though I may have found a problem related to getting the uploaded image actually placed into the portfolio as well as in the topic.)

Hi Royce

Thanks for the reply, excuse my vague explanation. What I am doing is creating a new post and then at the bottom selecting the image to upload and selecting to include it in my portfolio. When I click upload file it tries to refresh that page but then just hangs for a while and then eventually just shows the Naturescapes header and a blank page below. I hope that makes more sense.

Thanks
Mitchell

Okay, so it seems like the initial image upload is failing. This could be a network issue, something blocking the image transfer. Obviously you are able to get to NSN and start the post, so the network connection is working for the most part. What browser are you using on what kind of computer, and what can you describe about your outbound network access? Including any hardware or software firewalls, or other security applications you may be running on your computer.

I see you have successfully uploaded some images before, so it was working at one time. Was this from the same machine & network connection? Has anything been changed, replaced or upgraded lately?

(Oh, and the portfolio problem I thought I found isn't a problem. Just a bad test by me. :) From what we can tell things should be working okay.)

Hi Royce, nothing's changed my end, same PC, network etc. I've noticed that even doing something simple like replying to this post takes forever until the pages loads after clicking Post Reply. I've been uploading to other sites today without problem but perhaps there is some network issue between South Africa and the network where your site is located. I will upload my image to another machine on another network and try from there to see if I can pin down the problem. I'll feed back to you.

Hi Royce

Okay, I uploaded my image file to my web server and added my post from there without a single glitch, so the problem is local to my home ISP. Not the first time strange things have happened like this but at least I now know where the problem lies and I will take it up with them.

Thanks for your help
Mitchell

Okay, hope you get it resolved shortly. Things like this can be aggravating.

If you have (or can get) a traceroute type of utility on your system, often it will demonstrate where network bottlenecks or blockages are occurring between your system and somewhere else. That may provide some initial insight into where to start looking for a fix to the problem...
