I made this image at Evaluative Metering -3 stops in error (obviously) as I had been making some white sky silhouettes of a backlit Thompson's Gazelle and forgot to reset to "0"... Canon 100-400mm lens at 320 mm and EOS 1D body. ISO 250: 1/5000 sec. at f/10. These guys stopped in perfect formation to look at us when our Land Rover stopped and I was distraught when I saw the -3... I converted at about +1.4 stops and opened it up more in PS in both levels and with the miraculous Shadow/Highlight adjustment. All in all, I was thrilled. All comments welcome. Best and love, Artie

ps: It is good to be home after a 37 hour door to door adventure!

Arthur,

Welcome home. I hope you had a great trip. I really like the family portrait and they all posed so nice for you. i think the image will be improved a bit more if you remove some of the green cast. Thanks for posting in Wildlife. I hope this is the first of many from your trip.

Artie, nice family photo here. Are you the one on the left? ;)

It's amazing how much can be brought back from a digital capture. This does have a slight green cast, but not too bead especially considering the amount of work you did to bring it back from blackness!

Welcome home buddy. :)

Great family shot. That's got to be the male on the left, the same male that forgot Valentine's Day and consequently has a large amount of mud on his face...

There's few things better than salvaging a blown shot and getting nice image! 8)

Great catch!! The experts have covered the nits, so I'll just say - love the expressions (or lack of them) on their faces!! They all look like they're pretending to be invisible. 8)

Welcome home, Artie. Isn't it great to be back and to be able to eat salads, or any other uncooked food?
