Black Swan - Jamaica Bay NWR

Taken yesterday in the rain.. and although I did not have to wade deep into the water, I did get really wet

I think I would hide my head too in that weather. This bird looks unhappy to be there :). Nice shot

Wow, way to get close!!! Love the waterdrops on the bird, and the half open eye.

Nice composition. I think I would shoot this at incident -0.6 to render the plumage darker than a middle tone. Then I would check the histogram and ensure that it was weighted in the left side of the graph.

Excellent comp and story. A little tweak in curves would make this really pop. Looks like a little USM is needed too.
Very nicely seen and executed.

Good suggestions have been made which are easy to do and will really make this one great. The composition and detail of the water droplets are great. I know how he feels....I don't like being in the rain either. Great job!

Very nice image, I love that eye, the red lores and the composition as well as the droplets that tell such a story. I do wish it could be sharper and more saturated.

Attila,

Hope you don't mind the re-post but here is a version with some minor levels adjustments (to make the backs blacker) and some selective sharpening. Let me know what you think :)

We saw this guy on Friday with Artie on the Birds-as-Art/IPT. It looks like te Swan did not move an inch!! I think I may have some of the same shots.

Very nice. I like the mood.
