I spent last week in Puerto Rico on business and had a few hours to take some shots with Jose Lee at the Parque de Central. The egrets are starting to nest there and are getting quite territorial. This is a disgruntled egret that had just been chased of her perch.

I had hoped the flash would have gone off but this was the third shot in a sequence so my flash didn't fire but the image still came out OK.

Canon 1D, 300 F4, F8, 1/3200 sec, ISO 200, Evaluative -1 2/3.

Rob, this is great. Not sure it even need flash. Love the wings, open bill and the trailing plumes.

Great image. Open beak, and wing position is great, but the position of the legs cracks me up

Great shot and terrific timing. Not sure you needed the flash since this looks so good.

I agree that the flash wasn't needed. The running legs make this shot for me. :D

Outstanding. Best in-flight shot of a great egret I've seen.

Way cool! She's running through the air. I'm glad the flash didn't go off. I bet it would have cut down on the finely shaded detail and made the shot look less natural in the bargain.
