Last sunday, after a whole day of photography at -12 deg C, I went home without feeling my feet and hands, but I was soooo happy!

A shot like this, makes the effort well worth it. 8)

The falling snow makes this image just rock. Something about cardinals in the snow that I love... Great job.

Cheers,

Excellent shot, very nice comp and perch. I know what you mean, I was out as well all day Sat. Late in the day got a shot of a Cardinal in snowfall, but too slow shutter did not hold the image. :(

Nice comp and BG. The bird and Bg look great. I like the falling snow but might consider cloning out the large OOF flakes that the flash highlighted.

Nicely composed, a case where more room behind the subject works very well.

Wonderful bird, great flash work, excellent BG and perch and fine detail, the falling snow is a bonus, would have liked to see his face horizontal with the film plane, and colors on the money, Outstanding!!! 8)

Manuel:

This was worth freezing for! I agree about possibly cloning out some of the larger flakes.

Manuel,

Sweet shot. I wouldn't change a thing.

Dissenting opinion here.
Although unusual compositions are cool if they work, this one feels very unbalanced to me.
The horizontal part of the perch keeps pulling my eye towards the left and away from the subject .

The left branch does tend to pull the eye in that direction, but the feel of this is so nice, it doesn't bother me in the least. Nice job.

The first thing I noticed when the image came up was the red color against the grey background. Then, my eye drifted down the tail towards the end of the branch. To be honest I'm not sure what I think of that. An interesting composition to say the least.

A simple, lovely image. Well done. What was the aperture?

Very pretty Manuel. I was shooting this species last Sunday as well! I bet we were experiencing the same snowfall.

I love the crimson and grey combo... :)
