Lesser Scaup - M

Okay. Here's one more Scaup from Austin. I had so much fun shooting this cooperative flock. This male was swimming around harassing every other duck in the group to keep them away from his goodies as the locals would toss them bread crumbs. He ended up being the only one to miss out. I guess he was more interested in a new modeling career.

Digital SLR capture w/400.0mm f/5.6
Metering: Incident -2/3 for 1/3200 sec, f/5.6
Exposure Mode: Manual
ISO: 200
White balance: Auto

Wayne, Love the exposure and the open bill is awesome. I wish it was a lower angle.

Lovely quacker and great exposure to boot, a lower angle would have been desirable, but great as is!!! Congrats!!! 8)

I totally agree and knew I would get feedback on this. I never like to shoot from this much of an angle, but I was fighting a high river bank. You just make lemonade when you need to. :D

I love the open bill! While I usually prefer images with a lower shooting angle the steep angle doesn't really bother me in this shot. The water is very pretty.
