One more image from the Jan 4 Duckshop. This male ruddy is just beginning to show some blue in the bill.
Canon Eos 10D, Canon 400/2.8 + 1.4 TC. Gitzo tripod, Wimberly head. Flash with BB at -1.3 1/200 @ f 8
I recognize that the white area lacks detail I would be interested in suggestions as to how to improve that area. (If the words "linear conversion" are suggested I will need a step by step outline aimed at a first-grader level).
All comments and reposts welcome.

Joe, this ia a wonderful image of a ruddy duck. That E.J., guy knows his stuff, and how to relate it to the participant, as is evident here.

In C1 you need only move the EC slider control to the left. F5 will bring up the red highlight warning. From there simply adjust the levels.

Best,

Chas

Joe,
The duck is beautiful, but I am even more drawn to the green and gold pattern in the water. That alone would make a great abstract image; the addition of the duck ices the cake!
Keep on sending those duck images.

Hey Joe, this is great. There is an article in the NatureScapes archives that tells you what you need to know about linear conversions:

Joe, this is really nice. The water is something else.

I, also, second E.J.'s link to Greg's method for using linear conversion. It works well and is pretty easy.

Sweet shot Joseph. I might make it not so centered.

Very nice! I love the peridot colored water and the relaxed pose of the duck.
