Crested Caracara

Crested Caracara St. Cloud, Florida

D1x, 600f4, 1.4 x, cropped, USM

I recently learned that this is the national bird of Mexico and is depicted on the flag and coins holding a snake (I had thought the national bird was an eagle). I have to thank Jim Urbach for helping me get this image and for introducing me to digital photography and NSN. I have enjoyed viewing the images all of you have shared.

Nice capture. I wish I had se up my long lens after seeing this post, but I opted for a 400 flight lens and got nada when he flew away from us.

Unfortunately, the next frame is not as sharp and the right wing tip was clipped.
