Sunken Meadow State Pk, NY

While I was photographing egrets feeding in an estuary this green heron landed close by. I remained as motionless as possible, before long it walked within a few feet of me. I gratefully took this image along with some full frame headshots before it continued on its way.

1D, 500mm w/ 12mm extension tube, balanced flash at dusk helped me to freeze the subject and illuminate the bird in the fading light.

Best and see you in the field,

Chas

Lol, Hiya Little guy, I like the green around his eye. Nice one Chas.

Little guy = the bird, not Chas.

Beautiful colors. I like the water to the left of the bird. Happy New Year, Chas.

Very nice shot! The light was not in your favor here, but you made the most of it for sure.
