A pair of these birds showed up yesterday at Burlington Bay and would drift in with the Canada Geese and Swans to preen on the sand beach. Clear skys and warm weather allowed a few frames of these birds which are not common around here. Went back this morning in the snow storm but could not find them. Mallards appeared in all frames and I had to clone out several from the BG of this one.

I wish the bird wasn't headed in the other direction, but the head turn and the lifted foot really help to make this shot regardless. I think another effective composition would be to take bit off the top and the right, although this certainly works as is, too.

Great that even in what appears to be lower light you still got a catchlight and sharp details.

Why would I expect to see th front of a white front goose :) .
I like the walking away with the over the "shoulder" glance that even on a goose says volumes

I'm really surprised you got that much DOF at f/7.1 with a 500mm lens! It's an excellent shot!

Thought it'd be a classic butt shot but with the raised foot and head turn this one turned out to be a real catch.

Very nice shot. The OTS pose and raised foot make this one for me.
