Green-winged Teal - Phoenix, Arizona
EOS 1Ds, 300mm, 2x

One of my favorite winter visitors although they are getting very rare in these parts in winter. This was taken very late in the day.

Brilliant colour and a superb image of a very lovely species.

Not rare up here but not easy to approach as they are in the most inaccessible areas.

Gorgeous shot E.J.! However, it is looking very grainy on my monitor. The problem could be at my end ...

It's a 1Ds shot. Noise is highly inherent in this camera and very noticeable above ISO 160

Not a believer in those plug-ins nor do I think every image should be noise free ;)

EJ,

Beautiful shot. Love the low angle and the pose with the slight head turn toward you.

Stunning duck that would be enhanced by definitely smoothing out the background.

Even carefully selecting the background and applying some gaussian blur would be an option, imo.
