Great Kiskadee
Quintana Roo, MX
Image
D100
ISO 320
240mm (80-200/2x)
1/200 @ f10

hh/no flash

Kiskadees are a dime-a-dozen here, but I still didn’t think I would be able to get one in flight. I was taking photos elsewhere when I noticed this one was taking a slight pause before entering the nest.

The nests of the birds look a huge mess (portion in the top right of the pic), but they are surprisingly durable.

Nice capture of the fast bird. The framing is nice but the background and the light are pretty tough conditions. Well done.

Hi Donna, a flash would have helped freeze action and opened up the shadows some, but you did well composing the image in the short duration you had.

Great timing, just a bit contrasty.
