Anhinga
Wakodahatchee Wetlands

During my trip in May, every loop around Wakodahatchee’s boardwalk was a discovery of different things to photograph. At one point I spotted this Anhinga drying its wings while perched on a turtle and just had to take a few photos. Wonder how the turtle felt?

Digital capture with Canon 1D
Canon 500 f/4 with 1.4x teleconverter
Evaluative metering -.7 for 1/800, f/7.1
ISO 250
Tripod with Wimberley Sidekick

This is a very funny image indeed - love it!
In a perfect world the turtle would be turned a little more sideways, but it really doesn't matter much anyway. The head on the bird looks a little bit soft on my monitor

What an amazing shot! These two must be coexisting pretty well if the bird has settled down to dry its wings.

What a great capture of the moment. Certainly an unusual image!!

I just keep thinking the anhinga could have hitched a ride on something that moves a little faster to expedite the drying process.

Heather, I believe this Anhinga is giving the Turtle a back rub :)

Cool shot. The birds face looks a little over but everything else is perfect.

The image certainly fits the motif and fits the frame well. The harsh light seems to have landed on the birds face and a little bit of burning might reduce the glare.

Heather,
I love it. It looks like the bird has his own personal chauffeur.

Very unique shot! I too, wonder how the turtle felt about this. Perhaps it was an opportunity for him to get a free shower along with that back rub. Love the spread wings. The face of the bird looks a tiny bit over, but no biggie...particularly considering the uniqueness of the shot. Nice one!

You don't see that everyday. An amazing shot and I bet the turtle is a little miffed.

Heather,

Very unusual situation. :) I doubt the turtle was to happy about the whole thing! Well done.

Heather,
Priceless and loads of humor. You must have really enjoyed being there to see it, after you stopped laughing. The perchof the turtle does look like aligator, sort of...
