Taken while shooting one afternoon with Al Forns at Wakodahatchee from the first Gazebo. The Grackles and Little Green Herons were in full nest building mode, flying all over the place. As you've seen from Fabiola's great images, this is a great spot to practice flight shots. Not only do the birds cooperate, the BGs can be pretty nice also.

Please enjoy the image and comments are alway well received!!!!!!!!!1

Am on the road at the Alligator Farm and do not have the shooting data with me.

Thanks,

Hugh

I like this one....perhaps just a tad dark on my laptop but then it's early and my eyes may not be working just yet. You really get a nice view of the top of this guy..and some of that wonderful color. Have a safe and fun trip at the Alligator Farm.

I'll be folowing your steps on this one (remember imitation is the best form of flatery  ), that will be my next target. You did extremely well showing the iridecens on his top.
I hate you :P

Great flight shot of this one - I like the view. It appears a bit dark to me as well but that is easily fixed here. I agree Wako is a great place for flight shots - a lot of good shooting locations.

Must be a difficult subject to capture. Dark subjects are hard to get the exposure right, based on my failure records. :) Great work!

Thanks for sharing.

A little brighter, but, what a shot with an excellent angle of capture.

This has to be one of the more interesting grackle images I have ever seen. On my monitor you held the blacks well and made the purple pop!

Very nice.

You are a better man than I - I can barely get raptors in the frame much less small birds.

Jim Urbach asked:

What equipment were you using?

Nikon D2X, 300mm f4 lens.

By the way Jim, Swallow Tails Kites are infrequent visitors to Anhinga Trail, but congregate at 6:00 pm around the staff housing complex. This is the road to the left as you pass the Visitor Center, but before the Entrance Booth. It is open to the public.

Love the colours here. Also I like the way the detail in the eye contrasts with the blackness of the head.
