(Bald Eagle) Homer, Alaska

The original for this had the bird too far right and too low in the frame. A bit of creative cropping and I have something presentable. :)

Handheld Nikon D1H, 300mm AFS, ISO 200, Aperture Priority, 1/800 @ F8. Cropped to about 70% of original width.

Yikes. This is stunning, Tony. There is just so much depth and detail in the feathers and the deep blue background makes the bird pop. I think this is outstanding.

Hey Tony,

That 300mm f4 rocks, don't it?

great shot, and the crop has helped enormously. I remember this from earlier in the year. The exposure is about perfect for this bird. You shot straight A/P, no compensation?

Cheers

Carl

Tony,

Outstanding shot. The beautiful water and the nice light really help the eagle pop.

The first thing that I noticed was the sharpness and detail. The shade of blue in the bg is beautiful. You certainly have a winner here!!

This shot has not been shown previously. I have shown the frame prior to this one. It had a mountain background.

Both shots were using Matrix Metering at EV -0.7. The other shot required no additional compensation in capture. This shot required an additional -0.17 EV in capture.
