This Varied Thrush is visiting Caledonia State Park in Central PA it is very rare to be seen on the east coast at all. They come from the northwest and this bird is a Life bird for most birders in PA. I have spend two day trying to get a shot of him after driving two and a half hours one way each day. As you can see today paid off as he was around most of the morning.

good shot of him in the open. they come here in the winter, stay in the forests where it's dark and lots of clutter.

Jack,
This is a wonderful shot. I guess you were in the black SUV Friday morning. I could hear that D2H firing away like a machine gun. She was very cooperative for us and you certainly got a great shot here.

Merry Christmas, excellent capture my only nits are the angle of the shot and the softness.
