Black-bellied Plover (Calidris alba)
North Beach, Fort De Soto, Tierra Verde, on 22 Nov 2004

If the sun is clearly defined or the sky has a light haze, the sunsets at North Beach are the best I’ve seen in Florida.

This pleasant BBPL is doing nothing but looking at me. Because of the low sun, however, the rather drab bird becomes golden.
Thanks for looking. Critiques, comments, and reposts are welcome.

No you don't. You had abandoned me and were in the reeds getting the good shots.

Very nice light; a black/grey/white birds turns into golden brown. If it were not for the head & eye I'd say it was a Golden Plover. Sweet image.

You may have been abandoned by your fickle Amigo to go lurking in the undergrowth Sandy  but you were rewarded by such a sweet expression on this beautiful face and that wonderful light which has spilled as liquid gold into the water. Wonderful image! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) :)

Nice one Sandy. The bottom of his belly looks a bit strange, do you know what caused that black outline? Is it just a shadow?

I do see what you're talking about Chris. I went to the TIFF (before downsizing) and RAW images. It is present throughout, so it did not result from the processing. What it is, I'm not certain.

In reality my friend I shot the same bird on the same pose under the same setting golden sun sans the weird belly before you knew he was there, then you kicked me from your shore unto the smelly muddy quick sands!!!, Every cloud does have a silver lining, they were so close I could not focus, I had to take off the Teleconverter and shoot the far away birds!!!!
