Lesser Gold Finch - Young Male Sunset Canyon, Central Texas

This is another of the cuties that accomodated me last week. Hopefully the problems in the last post aren't in this image.

The perch is attached to a seed feeder next to the thistle feeder these guys go to. They land on the perch before going to the feeder.

I'm shooting from about 15 feet, seated comfortably in a deck chair. I haven't found any need to use camoflage with these guys.

Fine shot, Jim. Critical focus appears to be on the near wing, leaving the back of the head a bit soft. Then again it could just be my unreliable eyes.

Jim,
I think Sandy's eyes are ok on this one. You don't list shutter and aperture; a touch more DOF if possible?

I agree with the others on the focus point. That aside....this one is beautiful. Nothing like sitting in the comfort of your own home to shoot. Keep feeding them....and keep shooting.

This big in the frame small bird works well for me.
I do agree with Sandy as well.
