I have more than enough images of this common bird species for my files, but always enjoy capturing it while singing away. Is the branch distracting?

Neat shot, the fantail and song are spectacular. Great that you captured detail in some black highlight areas.

Can't help the branch being distracting; the bird is black and the branch is much lighter.

Jeff, since you have so many shots of these birds as do I, yes I think the branch is distracting. There are some blown highlights in the branch and it takes away my focus on the bird. The detail and position of the bird are right on.

Wonderful display shot, Jeff. Using the Burn Tool on the tree would put this over the top for me.

I like it, Jeff. I agree the branch is a bit hot. I'm going out tomorrow to look for these; hope to have the success you had.

The bird is fantastic. :D :D :D :D :D

To fix the branch and make it less distracting use the lasso tool perhaps with the image navigated 3 or 4 stops to get precison on the edge. Then go to SELECT- FEATHER 5 to 10%/ IMAGE-ADJUST-BRIGHTNESS and turn it down 20 to 50% remembering it has to still go with the perch/SELECT-DESELECT.

Jeff,

Outstanding! The RWBB is perfectly exposed. I agree with Sandy, toning down the tree would just add to a great shot.

I love head-on views of these guys. You've captured it nicely here. I like the branch even though it's a little hot. No matter how many shots I have of RWBB, I still can't resist stoping the car and taking a few more.

Wonderful bird with fan tail and open beak Jeff, gorgeous colours and BG. Just tone down the hot spots on the tree and you've got a winner here! 8) 8) :)

The bird capture is great, exposure on the money and image sharp. You got lots of red on the wings, a plus, I'm sure something can be done to the branch with PS. Congratulations on a great capture.

Great display and a wonderful composition, the light is a tad harsh but not too bad, burn tool as suggested could also help on the branch !! Congrats!! 8)

The fanned tail is wonderful! I also like all the detail in the black. The highlights can be fixed as others have said.

Jeff:

Tremendous detail. I would burn a little the tree but that is just my style.
