Tree Swallow Manitoba, Canada

Looking for something spring-like and colorful today and wanted to try the shadow/highlight feature for the first time from PS 8 (CS). Tried it on the head to bring out more sheen. What do you think? There were a few color casts (!), magenta on the tree and green on the swallow's throat. This swallow was nesting in the grassy shade. The BG is the siding of a friend's home. Digi-scoped. Cropped off a branch on the bottom. Thanks in advance for any comments.

Beautiful shot Juli! I am really getting hooked on the S/H adjustment - it really helps some images sing.

The color gives this real eye-catching appeal. Combined with a great closeup, I think you have a winner.

Very nice image, Juli.

The detail in the blacks and the throat area are very good and the BG sure gets your attention.

Feed me....feed me! I chuckled as this one opened. My son just walked in the door. He driving from Florida to Colorado for a spring break ski trip.
He first words to me were...."what's to eat?".. and I thought he'd fledged and left the nest :?
Great colors and excellent shot.

Sweet shot! I love the background and the colors on the bird. That open bill is really a plus.

Great digiscope image, Jill. I love the BG colors. I think the S&H adjustment worked well.

This is beautiful. Until I read it I never would have guessed the BG was anything man made but the color is really an attention getter.

The spring-like colors and open beak put this one all the way out of the park. Awesome!!

Lovely shot with excellent detail and action, Juli. You probably could reduce the green color cast on the bird by using the paintbrush in color mode with an off-white color.

Hi Juli,

This is a very beautiful and artistic rendering of this bird. I love the way the swallow's darker feathers jump out against the rich BG color. Your digi-scoping skills are to be envied!
