Mandarin Duck Aix galericulata

I received an e-mail from a friend telling me this guy and his entourage of Wood Ducks have returned to Colorado. I have yet to get any shots of the Mandarin with the 10D so I plan to go visit him this weekend.

Wish me luck.

EOS1V, 600/4 IS, tripod, Eval @ -1/3, Av @ f8, SS not recorded, Provia 100
Cropped to 5X7

Comments and critiques are always welcome and appreciated. Thanks for looking. :)

Cool looking bird. You caught him/her well. Is this what this type of bird normally looks like?

Yep!!

This one is a male. Mandarin Ducks are not indigenous to North America. The ones that are seen in the wild here are most likely escapees from zoos or private collections.

Bill,

I'd be proud of this one. Neat open beak. He's really motoring along.

Bill, killer duck and excellent exposure, nice detail and wonderful water & reflection, for me just a touch more saturation (+10 or +15%) under this subtle light the colors should be slightly more saturated and a tad towards the warm side!!, But beautiful as is!!! Congrats!!
