Lioness
Maasai Mara, Kenya

I saw Rich's lion lying on his side and it reminded me of this image as this lioness did have a male lying near her looking quite like Richs post.

On this particular day, we had ladies only in our vehicle and all the guys were harrassing us for shooting sleeping lion images in the shade. Actually we were waiting for one of them to do something and when the lioness stretched along the tree and into the light only 3 of us were ready. this was one of my favorite images from my trip.

great one.

I am beginning to see a pattern here. There are about 5 or 6 of us posting a huge number of images from Africa.

Perhaps we should put together a combined porfolio, and try to have a print showing some place.

What do ya think?!?

Very very nice Cheryl. This had a strong right angle feel to it provided by the tree and then the lion with the foot resting on the tree. I very strong image IMHO. The negative space at the top really adds a great deal. Technically perfect.. Thanks for your post here..

I like the judicious use of negative space here. Well done.

Does this pose look familiar! Never saw one next to a tree like this, but that almost-awake-let-me-stretch look is great and the tree is a nice complement.

Cheryl,
Very well done. A unique pose, one that I have not seen before, makes this for me. All technicals in place as usual.

That is a nice pose. I like the sleepy look in the eyes and the elevaed paw.

Are we digressing to an internet dating forum for wildlife??

I like seeing the African cats. I'm glad there's some of you that have such a good collection of images.

A nice comp and different. It works for me.

The colour of her eyes and body seems to be a bit dark. Try a bit of levels to see if this could pop more.

Those eyes are not so sleepy and she's well aware of her surroundings.

Thanks for sharing.

I love it--I'm glad you got such a great shot after being teased. Missing a shot like this would haunt me.
