(Young Male Cheetahs) De Wildt Cheetah Research Centre, South Africa

This shot of of two of five young males that were almost ready to be released back into the wild. This was taken right before they got fed which is why they were close to the bus.

Handheld Nikon D1, 80-400 VR @ 280mm, ISO 200, Program mode, 1/160 @ F67. Cropped slightly from everywhere but the right.

Hey Anthony,

I think the lack of light on the main subject's face hurt you here. It's a nice shot, but it doesn't really "GRAB" me like some of your other images. I'd also crop a tad bit from the right, and eliminate what looks like his leg sticking up the upper RHC.

Cheers

Carl

Anthony,
I agree with Carl on this one. Altho it seems outlandish a tight vertical crop including just the head of the facing cheetah with the paw, shoulder, and elbow of the bottom cheetah might be intrigueing. (Perhaps I have gone berserk.)

Yeah too bad about the light on the one face, but what can you do? I agree with a crop on the right but my idea would be somewhere in between the other 2 suggestions- maybe just at the "elbow" of the bottom cat. The color and texture of the fur is quite nice.

I should be lucky to get that close to a cheetah

I do like the shot, but would agree on a slight crop from the right.

Nice shot Tony, good colour and detail and another vote for crop from the right, at least to exclude the upraised part hind foot, but possible tighter to the elbow would be better.

Well I like the light on one face and not the other. Makes for an interesting pattern of light and shadow. I might tone down the hot cheek a touch but in all a very nice image.

I like the light right where it is, makes me feel like I'm there with them/you. Cool stuff, Tony.

Nice interaction Tony. I can live with the light but would crop some from the right side. Bet this was fun to watch.

Light's OK but ... I think the comments reflect the wish to have a spot of light on the main character's face rather than off to the side or just behind. I'm one more vote for a crop from the right, but I don't think I would take off too much. And given you're at 280, I'm guessing that you're saving a tight shot! ;)
