Greg Forcey grew up in rural north-central Pennsylvania and quickly grew fond of the outdoors as a child. He became captivated with birds at an early age from bird feeding, and as his interest grew, he decided to dedicate his career to ornithology. After obtaining a PhD in Zoology and conducting avian research across the United States, Greg moved to Gainesville, Florida and is currently a senior avian ecologist with Normandeau Associates. For Greg, nature photography is a natural extension to his profession and he enjoys incorporating the two whenever possible.
Greg's considers himself a generalist when it comes to nature photography. He has a diverse range of subjects from birds to mammals to landscapes to flora with particular focus on the flora and fauna of Florida and the upper Great Plains. Greg started in photography in 1991 with a 35mm 5000i Minolta SLR and then switched to a Nikon F5 in 1998. Today, Greg shoots exclusively digital with a Nikon D300 and D700 and a wide assortment of lenses ranging from 14mm to 600mm. He shoots strictly in RAW mode and processes his files with Adobe Lightroom 3.
