Yep. I sure can't wait. The duel card slots is a feature I have not heard of. Low noise at ISO 800 sounds great to me!

I don't think you want to pay the price of a 1GB SD card.

I can't speculate on that but I don't think that's the intention, at least for right now, though I could be wrong. It would be great if you could do that and you're right, it's just a matter of software. I think it's more for non-stop shooting. You can fill one card, switch to another to keep shooting, and then when you have a moment swap the first card with a fresh one while the camera is still writing to card #2. Of course it also doubles the number of shots you can take. Very useful for say when you are on a boat. ;)

Looking at the PDF in French, it does mention the two memory formats, CF and SD. I presume therefore it has one slot of each. I think some P&S digitals have multiple slots and can allow transfer from one to the other, so I don't see why the 1DII wouldn't allow that. But what it does seem to mean is that if you want to use both slots you'll have to have both types of memory.

SD is faster, isn't it. Rob Galbraith's site says that we can expect SD to replace CF in pro DSLRs. If that's true, then it looks like the 1DII is a transition model...

I missed the part about one being SD and the other being CF! Blows my whole plan right out of the water... :(

Check the fine print. That's what the early notes about the D2H said too. There are times when the noise is quite controlled on the D2H at these levels and there are times when it is not.

SmartDisk, it's just a different form factor memory card from a CF.

Excellent!! and FINALLY some specs written in english that I can understand. Maybe an investment in some SD cards is in order.

FWIW we should see a formal announcement from Canon tomorrow or Friday at the latest, so hold on..

Doesn't SD stand for Secure Digital?

I thought it was Secure Digital. But everyone seems to use SD in the official specs. I can't find an "official" indication of the name. At B&H, they do refer to the SD as Secure Digital...

These are much smaller cards than the CF cards.
