Hello all. During my Christmas visit to New Mexico to see the parents I wanted to go up to Sandia Crest. Unfortunately neither the finches nor the weather (below zero temps at the crest and high winds) cooperated so I opted instead to go over to Rio Grande Nature Center for a few hours. The cold snap had frozen over the pond at the visitor center and several wood ducks were lounging on the ice with the ever present mallards. This one was isolated for 10 minutes or so and allowed a few pictures. The morning light provided a nice golden sheen to the ice.

He does not look happy...
It's a nice shot with nice, warm light. :) I do wish for less debris on the ice though - how handy are you at cloning?

cheers, Oliver

Chris, i'm not sure if it's grain or over sharpening I'm seeing but a nice shot of a beautiful Duck.

This is the best shot I've seen of the Woodies there - this was taken at the blind right?

The iridescence is spectacular Chris and the reflection adds to the image. Perhaps cloning out some of the distracting white spots in the water would improve it.

Yes EJ this was taken at the blind there. It was damned freezing outside and I had my camera resting in one of the little stone windows.

As for the debris I chose not to clone it out because anyone who has been there would know instantly that there was a lot of cloning done. I decided to just leave it "au natural" as they say.

Cheers!

Nice one. I may have removed the two larger stones in the FG, but not a nit. Great job.
