Motif: Really Red Screech Owl

I thought I had seen red Screech Owls until I ran across this one last winter. Turns out I had been seeing those brownish red/gray intergrades. We don't get many true reds here in CT. I understand they are not as cold tolerant as the grays, and are more plentiful down south.

Canon 1D, 100-400 zoom at 400. 1/320 @ f/8, ISO 400, 550 and Beamer. hand held.

This is marvelous. I have been trying for weeks to get a shot of one of these - any color phase. They just have not been cooperative. This is a terrific image. No nits at all.
