Greater Flamingo (Garfield Bight, FL)

I still can't believe I saw this flock of wild flamingos. Many birders call fly over Roseate Spoonbills flamingos by accident, surely they've never seen the majestic flamingo in flight with it's awesome size and black trailing wing edges.

Nice catch and good and sharp. I would wish for more separation between the birds - but I know how hard it is to make them do that!! :)

This must be a magnificent sight to see these birds flying. I too would like to see more separation, particularly the one with its head hidden by the wing. Still, this is one I would love to have. :D

You are one lucky lady - not many actually get to witness wild Flamingos in FL.

Abie, A decade of waiting was well worth it ... terrific shot of them in flight!!! I'm wondering if the lead one might be a juvenile ...
