I've taken lots of shot of Laughing Gulls myself, but never one quite so nice as this. Well done!
It looks like it was a bit windy as well.

This was taken during high noon when I was out shooting boats for an assignment. The Gull was right next to me practically passing judgement on my work And you're right...it was windy. Good sense of observation :D

Excellent work, Harvey. It looks like you photographed him while you two were having a conversation. 8)

I like the preening and the exposure is perfect. I think there is too much empty space on top and some of the OOF background disrupts the image a bit - especially the vertical pole.

Nice preening action, Harvey. The OOF BG horizon line is a bit distracting

Well flashed. I agree with EJ about the OOF pole, but not about the room at the top. He faces that way, and for some reason this looks like a greeting card to me--that's where the text should go!

Great capture. I like the gull's pose and the colour combo of the wooden post in the image.

I like this one especially for the pose...so much different than what I've seen before. The OOF area in the BG is a little distracting....but not by much.

Very nice! My first impression was that the whites on the head were blown out, but on closer inspection, I can definitely see some detail. Love the colors and smooth tones. Thanks for sharing.

PS. How long does it take to zoom from min to max on a 50-50 lens?

But, if you crop from the top, I think that eliminates this problem.
Nice shot.

Actually I think you've got a good point there as I really see this as a horizontal.

The detail and exposure on the bird is absolutely gorgeous Harvey. The OOF BG objects are easy enough to eliminate in PS but are really only a minor distraction. The superb subject holds the attention.

Stunning!! 8) 8) 8)

Hi Harvey. I love the bird's position here and think the exposure looks great. I do like it with a bit of the top cropped off as well.
