(Sandhill Cranes, Snow Geese) Bosque de Apache, New Mexico

This is intended to be about a month long series of images from my two weeks at Bosque.
My intent is to make the images flow as though they all occurred during a single day.
Of course, they occurred during the two weeks I was there. :) This is the third in the series. You'll find the first two in the Birds Gallery.

Taken through the weeds at the crane pool this doesn't quite reflect what you see unless you're willing to poke your head through the weeds. Actually, there was a low section between the tall weeds that I was able to get this through.

The time is still only about 6:30 am and it's still pretty dark out so the exposure was still reasonably long. I'm here instead of in Landscape because of the power lines.

Tripod/Wimberly mounted Nikon D2H, 70-200mm AFS VR @ 125mm, ISO 400, Aperture Priority, EV+0.3, 3 secs @ F11. Shot vertically and cropped slightly from sides and converted to 5:4.

At first I was wondering why this was here. Those power lines/poles are such an insignificant part of this that I didn't know they were there until I read the text.

I love the layered comp.

I like the layers of birds. But for me the interest is all in the foreground--the hills do very little for the picture. Those layers of sleeping birds are great!

Really nice feel to this one. Calmness and serenity before the explosions of noise and activity. It also reminds me of the cold mornings, brrrrr.

Nice one as well, Tony!!
From the D2H reviews the cameras does very well on long exposures, add to this the cold weather and the results are great!!!
Congrats!!! 8)
