My wife (above) and I went to Fla last week for 6 days (cut short by a Blizzard here in NY). Had a great time, got to meet Alex (really nice guy) and Bill T, also a very nice gent. Poor Sandy got a bug so we'll have to get back there to hook up with him next time!

Anyway, while on a drive from Anhinga Trail to Eco Pond, this guy hopped on the hood of the car when we stopped at an intersection. I actually got out, went in the trunk, got out a smaller lens and took some pics! Get this, on the way back he did the same thing! You have some wacky crows in Fla! He rode on the hood for at least a 1/2 mile before he flew off. Maybe he just likes the rides he gets?

Welcome to Florida and EHK :) . As you found out, the birds really are as tame as we say down here.

Great shot! The bird on the mirror and the expression on your wife's face make this image for me....really great catch. :D I like the story too, I have seen the tame birds of Florida but have yet to experience such a tag-along bird.

I've got a shot like that of a Clark's Nutcracker on someone's car in the Peyto Lake parking lot! But I left out the person, because I didn't know them...

Gotta love tame birds! (Until you realize that they're tame because of decades of tourons feeding them.)

Great capture, George !!! I adore both their expressions!!! As feeding is not permitted in a national park, our American Crows know not to beg. But that doesn't stop them from being overly friendly!! :D :D

Just 'cause it's not allowed, doesn't mean it doesn't happen. It's been my experience that lots of people think that "Don't feed the wildlife" doesn't apply to birds or rodents. Also, it often happens unintentionally--crows are great scavengers and will find the garbage left behind by people.

Paul, Clearly, I should have placed a 'wink' after 'beg.' However, I'm betting the DeCamps had no potato chip on their windshield.

Sorry, Jill. Just a pet peeve of mine. I'm sure that the DeCamps didn't feed them, but because they get so much from people, they keep coming to look. Bears get destroyed for this behaviour; but for some reason people think it's okay for smaller animals.

George, He is a nice one, the Crow couple at Anhinga ambush little kids with Cheeto's or any kind of chips, they come flying from behind unseen and and foot-kick the kids (or for that matter adults with hats) in the top of the head, and pretty hard I might add, Almost invariably the startled victim drop whatever was in hand before it reached the mouth!!!
Either the attacker or the accomplice flies away with the morsel!!
It's a treat to watch, for me that is!!!
A pleasure meeting you and your lovely wife Louise!! Always welcome to come back anytime !!!!
Congrats!!! 8)

PS:
The Crow could be Sandy hiding in his alter ego!!!!, When he is not with me, I wonder if the crow is not him keeping an eye on me!!!
