On a trip to Yellowstone over Memorial Day weekend this year, I stopped one morning at Madison junction to photograph the bison who were hanging around. As I was getting ready to go, a small herd with a bunch of young (2-3 weeks) calfs were heading for the river, and decided to cross. I was trying to get some shots of this guy dripping water as he walked, when he took off running and did this leap between some small islands. Canon 1Ds at ISO250, 500f4 and 1.4x, 1/400 at f5.6, full frame.

cool jump like instant take off.

The water trailing behind and under gives a real motion.

Matt,
This is another great shot. Perfect timing to catch him that high in the air.

Cool shot- the trailing water is great. It looks a bit soft though.

Excelent action shot. I'd just try to lift the shadow off the Bison which is not too difficult. All in all still a very good capture.

Very cute and an excellent action shot! It almost looks afraid of what might happen next.
