I just purchased an Epson R2400, my first sojourn into printing. I did everything the Epson manual said to do and the prints are hideously dark and the ink looks caked on when printed from CS2 on my Mac. It also takes about 15 minutes to print an 8x10.

When I burn the same image file to a CD and print from my PC laptop, the print looks just like the image on my Mac screen and prints in a couple minutes.

What gives?

Thanks!

I'm not really sure what is happening here, particularly in relation to the time that the image is taking to print from your Mac; it should print in a couple of minutes at most.

Are you printing from Photoshop>Print with Preview, or are you using the Printer Driver to apply the paper profile to the image?

If you have a CRT monitor on your Mac, then you can expect the resulting print to be about a stop too dark. To get over this apply a levels adjustment layer abd set the middle slider to between 1.2-1.25 to lighten the entire image. Now the tones on the print and the monitor will match - at least that is my experience.

Scott,

Could you provide a little info as to what is needed to get acceptable prints from PS and a Mac? Using a Mac Pro and PS2 & PS3 and both are entirely too dark for what they should be. Monitors are calibrated with Optix XR Pro, but I can't get a decent print to save my life.

As I asked Wayne in the other thread, what paper are you using, and are you using the correct print profile?

I always match the correct profile to the paper used. In this case, it is Epson R2400 semi-gloss and orem luster. I double checked all the settings before posting and built presets to make sure the right paper and profile were used. What do you think Eric?
