Eastern Marsh Harrier Circus spilonotus

Took this early yesterday morning under a heavy overcast sky. The light was real bad ... :(

Even with a real bad light you have managed to get a very nice shot KK ! :) I love the way the light goes through the feathers - interesting and pleasing effect!

The nice thing about light like this is what happened with the detail in the tail. Still a very nice shot- -

love the light through the tail.I've been trying to do backlit on the hawk up here with flash to light up his darker side away from the sun but it seems to kill the backlighting too much for my taste. The reason I mention it is because it looks like some flash fill would have helped here, but you probably would lose some backlight effect also. Maybe high thin clouds would help if only I we knew where to order them up.

I'm with Kim, the light on the fanned tail makes this one. Nice job in difficult conditions, KK.

Great capture KK! :D I like every thing, except for the back of the head. It almost look like the left wing is splitting it in two.

The translucency is what makes this 'different' presentation unique. I like it.

KK,

The affect of the light coming through the feathers makes this an excellent shot.

You always seem to come ok given any lighting situation. This one is another example. I like the effect of the bad light!!!
