(Common Tern) Stone Harbor, New Jersey

I actually got three in this sequence. This is the third. The other two are just wings. :) The crop decision was tough. I don't usually put the bird in the left 1/3 when flying to the left. I hope this works.

Tripod Mounted Nikon D2X, 600 mm AFS, ISO 125, Manual, 1/1600 @ F5.6. Cropped about 25% from the width.

Excellent action shot. I agree with you on the crop. It's not the way you usually do it but this one works very well.

I think it works here with the splash, Tony. Very nicely done!

I think this works great. The water action and drops behind the tern help balance this out.
Sweet shot!

Rules are there to be broken, but only when you know when to break them. This is one of those times that it was right to break them.

The splash & the Terns pose are spot on.

The crop works as the water drops are also a strong part of the image, Tony.

Works just fine for me. Nice composition with the splashed water drops going diagonally up to the URC. Nicely done!

Nice action, Tony.
Putting the bird on the left in the frame gives more of feeling of motion (to me) than if it were on the right. Also the comp is balanced with the splash on the right.
:)
